Farmers Market
Today we visited the farmers market in Cheltenham. If I had more money in my pocket I could have spent a fortune! We bought vegie burgers, falafels, capsicum pesto, olive oil (organic) and organic salad dressing. Can't wait to see what yummy meals I can come up with this week. We also got rid of all the meat products from our freezer including frozen meals and meat. I love having the house meat free! My father in-law was a little surprised to hear about our decision and I think he was a little concerned about how much meat would be on the menu for our xmas lunch this year!

Becoming GREENER
Over the past few weeks I have been thinking a lot about my effect on the environment and becoming more environmentally responsible. Sometimes it is easy to become a little lazy and forget to take your green bag to the shop or separate the paper items in the rubbish. If every little bit counts it really is up to me to make changes at my end. Here are some handy tips via Ecodirectory which I have selected as really easy things we can do to make a difference:
1. Take shorter showers - simple!
2. Start composting
3. Reduce, re-use, recycle
4. Eat locally grown - there are farmers markets springing up all over the place and they are a great excuse not to shop at Coles and Safeway.
5. Eat organic - most supermarkets are starting to stock more and more organic items and I personally feel like eating organic is such a great option if you can manage it.
6. Eat less meat - I have never been a big meat eater so this won't be too much of a problem for me. Along the same lines - always buy free-range meat and eggs if you can.
7. Drive the car less - good for the environment and good for you!
8. Vote GREEN! With the election coming up it is a good chance for us to put our support behind the greens and hopefully make a change for the future. You can sign up to their green wall and make a pledge of support - here.
Good luck!!
